Capacity Tests
Different types of intelligence
There are different kinds of intelligence. The concept of a single number (IQ) to describe a person’s intelligence has been largely discredited and it is, surprisingly, not a very good predictor for long term success. There are two reasons for this, the first is that “Intelligence” is not a monolithic concept, it has many facets, and the second is that intelligence, without direction and drive (the right personality) is wasted.
So, why does Online Talent Manager have capacity tests? While intelligence alone is not a good predictor for long term success, it is a good predictor for ability to perform a specific function. Our capacity tests are measuring ability to perform a function.
Our tests are also geared to address specific kinds of intelligence so that you can specifically target the areas vital for a function/career. We have instruments that accurately measure the following intelligence types:
- Numerical Intelligence – the ability to work with numbers and mathematical concepts; important for financial and management positions
- Verbal Intelligence – understanding words and their relationships with each other; important for anyone responsible for written or verbal communications
- Spatial Intelligence – understanding spatial relationships; important for artists, architects, and programming
- Logical reasoning – parsing statements to find their logical core; important for programming and law
Our tests are time limited and are recommended for use only in controlled environments (in the office or in a monitored space). One of the drawbacks of testing over the internet is controlling for distractions.
